Quick Quilt Finish ~ Charm Bracelet

I know ~ it wasn't on my Finish-A-Long list.  But I had a chance to take a class through the Desert Quilters of Nevada taught by Melissa Corry of Happy Quilting and I had to finish that quilt!

The pattern is called Charm Bracelet and it really goes together fast!  The fabrics I used were in my stash (Delighted by Quilted Fish for Riley Blake) left over from one of my first quilts.  The background fabric is from the Love Is collection by Hannah Dale for Maywood Studios ~ the backing is from the Apple Jack collection by Tim and Beck for Moda.

I didn't take many photos while I was making it, so here are just a few of the finished quilt.

This quilt is already on its way to Project Linus ~ one of Desert Quilters of Nevada's favorite charities.

2019 Finish-A-Long ~ 4th Quarter List

Last Quarter for this year ~ Wow!  Where does the time go??

I have two projects left over from last quarter ~ I know this list is kind of pathetic, but I'm just trying to keep it real!

1 -
Patchwork Barn Block of the Month by Edyta SitarI have most of the quilt put together and I'm just starting on the applique for the side panels.

2 - Good Fortune Mystery Quilt.  This is the first Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt I've ever done ~ and I LOVED putting it together!  Top is finished, and I'm hoping to finish this baby by next quarter.

So I guess I'll leave it at that.  We just bought a house, so we're getting ready to move (again!) and, between that and traveling to Michigan at Christmas, I'm not expecting to get much done on the quilting scene!  There's always next year ~ LOL.

2019 Finish-A-Long: 3rd Quarter Results

Since we moved across the country, I've spent more time exploring the Las Vegas valley than I have quilting.  So I've only managed to finish one of the projects that were on my list for this 3rd quarter:

1 - Patchwork Barn Block of the Month by Edyta Sitar I have most of the quilt put together ~ I'm just starting on the applique for the side panels.

2 - 2018 Quilters Planner Sampler BOM.  I made this one with blue and red Christmas fabrics.  FINISHED!

3 - Good Fortune Mystery Quilt.  This is the first Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt I've ever done ~ and I LOVED putting it together!  Top is finished, and I'm hoping to finish this baby by next quarter.  NO PROGRESS

One finish out of three ~ better than nothing!  On to the 4th Quarter :)

2019 Finish-A-Long ~ Finally, a finish! 2018 Quilters Planner BOM

I'm SO happy I got this one finished!  (Since I started it at the beginning of 2018.)  I decided to do the design on-point and it's just the right size.  I changed the pattern a little ~ only using the 12 blocks instead of 17 like the one on the cover of the pattern book.

(Binding in progress)

I've never done a Christmas Quilt with red and blue fabrics before, but I love it and it's just the right size for snuggling under with a hot cup of cocoa.

2019 Finish-A-Long: 3rd Quarter List

OK - so the last quarter flew by.  As expected, no finishes ~ but we just moved across the country to a new house ~ and I did make a little progress on one thing on my list!

So here we go again with the same 3 projects on my list for this 3rd quarter:

1 -
Patchwork Barn Block of the Month by Edyta SitarI have the 72 6" blocks finished and I've finished the center block with the applique.  Next are the side panels (more applique) and the sashing (still trying to decide how I want to do that).  No progress last quarter, but I'd love to be able to finish it this year!

2 - 2018 Quilters Planner Sampler BOM.  I made this one with blue and red Christmas fabrics.  Top is done and I'm halfway through with the quilting, so it WILL be a finish this quarter!

3 - Good Fortune Mystery Quilt.  This is the first Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt I've ever done ~ and I LOVED putting it together!  Top is finished, and I'm hoping to finish this baby by next quarter.

It feels good to be settled with my new quilting space (even if I still can't find stuff on occasion.)  So I'm feeling optimistic about this quarter!

2019 Finish-A-Long: 2nd Quarter List

OK - 2nd Quarter.  I haven't added anything new to the last list ~ in fact, I've cut it down by one.  We're going to be moving across the country, so that'll take up a LOT of time!

I have 3 projects on my list for this quarter:

1 -
Patchwork Barn Block of the Month by Edyta SitarI have the 72 6" blocks finished and I've finished the center block with the applique.  Next are the side panels (more applique) and the sashing (still trying to decide how I want to do that).  I'd love to be able to finish it next year at some point!

2 - 2018 Quilters Planner Sampler BOM.  I've finished 12 blocks in blue and red Christmas fabrics.  I've already run out of background fabric and can't find it anywhere, so the background is going to have to be a little scrappy.  :)

Good Fortune Mystery Quilt.  This is the first Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt I've ever done ~ and I LOVED putting it together!  Top is finished, and I hope to at least start the quilting once we find a house and get settled.  :)

Not too optimistic as far as finishes go this quarter ~ just hoping to make SOME progress.  Next time I link up we'll be in our new home!

Zipper Quilt ~ a Comfy Quilt

The Naples Quilters Guild that I belong to collects "Comfy Quilts" made and donated by its members and gives them to the Children's Advocacy Center for children placed there because of abuse situations.  I made this one using the Zipper quilt pattern demonstrated by Jenny Doan of the Missouri Quilt Star Co.

Quick and easy!  I made this using a charm pack of Kate Spain's "Daydream" collection and I loved the way it turned out!

Binding ready to be sewn on.

2019 Finish-A-Long - First Quarter Results

I had 5 projects on my list for this quarter:

1 -
Star Light Star Bright.  FINISHED!  Blogged here.

2 - Patchwork Barn Block of the Month by Edyta SitarI have the 72 6" blocks finished and I've finished the center block with the applique.  Next are the side panels (more applique) and the sashing (still trying to decide how I want to do that).  I'd love to be able to finish it next year at some point!  NO PROGRESS.

3 - 2018 Quilters Planner Sampler BOM.  I've finished 12 blocks in blue and red Christmas fabrics.  I've already run out of background fabric and can't find it anywhere, so the background is going to have to be a little scrappy.  :)  NO PROGRESS.

4 - Coalition Bag - pattern by Sara Lawson of Sew Sweetness.  My daughter asked me for the handbag size and I have the fabrics and all the parts but it's kind of a surprise, so I can't show everything here until it's gifted.  SOME PROGRESS, but i'm having issues.

5 - Good Fortune Mystery Quilt.  This is the first Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt I've ever done ~ so call me crazy for putting it on this list, but I have all the bits and pieces finished and I just need to finish putting it together!    :)    TOP IS FINISHED!

So one finish this quarter and progress on two others.  I'm not expecting much for the next quarter ~ we're getting ready to move across the country, so I may be a little busy.  :)

My First Blue Ribbon!!

I'm beyond thrilled to say that my "Wrestling with Eldon" quilt received a 1st Place ribbon at the Naples Quilters Guild Quilt Show this past weekend!  It was in the Small Bed Quilt Pieced category with 9 other wonderful quilts ~ I'm still shocked but extremely happy.  :)

2019 Finish-A-Long: First finish of the year ~ Star Light Star Bright

It's only taken me a little less than 5 years to finish this one ~ Star Light Star Bright made its first appearance on March 9, 2014.  It was a Quilt Along by Melissa Corry at Happy Quilting (she really has a lot of great ones that are still up on her blog!)   The fabrics were from a FQ Frenzy Denim & Daisies bundle from Sew Lux.

I was stuck at 4 blocks forever before I decided I needed to finish it

and then, all of a sudden, it was a finished top!

The quilting was pretty simple using the walking foot (my usual), although I did try some free motion along the sashing.

I didn't get any pictures of the finished quilt before I gave it its first bath, but I like that crinkly look!

The only thing that upsets me is that the horizontal sashing is a whiter white than the rest of the background ~ which I didn't notice until after I had already started the quilting.  You can't see that in the photos, but in the daylight it's really obvious.  :(  But it's just a casual quilt which isn't going into any quilt show, so I'm not going to stress about it!  I'm just happy it's finished!

Update:  I got to show off this quilt when I met Melissa Corry at one of our Desert Quilters of Nevada guild meeting ~ and she's just the sweetest thing!
