Finish #2! I don't think I've ever made a quilt this quickly ~ from cutting to binding it only took me 8 days. It's the Rail Fence comfy quilt for the Naples Quilters Guild using this tutorial. Granted, it's an easy pattern, but I wanted to finish it in time for this month's meeting next week because it's going to the Children's Advocacy Center in Naples.
This was my first set of strip-pieced blocks. I ended up with 25 blocks ~ 20 on the front and the remaining 5 on the back.
I quilted a wide zig-zag in the center of the quilt, wavy lines down the side borders and small loops on the top and bottom borders. It's really hard to see the quilting on that border fabric, but that's a good thing since I'm practicing my free-motion. :)
I used a Bali Poppy collection called Storm for the blocks - love the colors! The blue batik I used for the small border and the binding was in my stash, so I have no idea what it is. The wide border and backing fabric (DAIWABO Selection?) was found at my local quilt shop.
Hooray for checking another project off my list! Linking up with Finish or Not Friday.
I actually like the back more than the front. It's modern and clean lines are refreshing.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is very pretty.....I love how so many are making the backs as pretty as the fronts. Great job in 8 days.
ReplyDeleteNice colour scheme ! I like very much how you used the remaining blocks on the back. Thanks for participating in the 2017 FAL, visiting on behalf of the 2017 FAL cheerleading team.
