2019 Finish-A-Long: 1st Quarter List

Happy 2019!!  It always feels good to have a new year in front of us ~ my goal this year is to finish most of my UFOs (I have 10) and not start too many new ones.  Fingers crossed!

I have 5 projects on my list for this quarter:

1 -
Star Light Star Bright.  Let's finish this oldie-but-goodie from 2014! I have the top finished and the back ready, so I just need to baste and quilt this one.

2 - Patchwork Barn Block of the Month by Edyta SitarI have the 72 6" blocks finished and I've finished the center block with the applique.  Next are the side panels (more applique) and the sashing (still trying to decide how I want to do that).  I'd love to be able to finish it next year at some point!

3 - 2018 Quilters Planner Sampler BOM.  I've finished 12 blocks in blue and red Christmas fabrics.  I've already run out of background fabric and can't find it anywhere, so the background is going to have to be a little scrappy.  :)

4 - Coalition Bag - pattern by Sara Lawson of Sew Sweetness.  My daughter asked me for the handbag size and I have the fabrics and all the parts but it's kind of a surprise, so I can't show everything here until it's gifted.

5 - Good Fortune Mystery Quilt.  This is the first Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt I've ever done ~ so call me crazy for putting it on this list, but I have all the bits and pieces finished and I just need to finish putting it together!    :)

I'm being optimistic this quarter ~ maybe it will motivate me!   Happy New Year!

Something new for me ~ a Bonnie Hunter Mystery!

After hearing about Bonnie Hunter through my quilty friends, I was blown away by all her scrappy quilts!  So I decided to jump in and try making her latest mystery quilt, Good Fortune.

I have to say, scrappy is not usually in my comfort zone, but she makes it so much fun!  I was a little intimidated at how many little pieces she has you make in her weekly clues, but I didn't fall TOO far behind despite two short trips out of town in December (so proud!).

I'm not finished yet, but here are a few pics of my progress along the way.

All the pieces:

and here are my first 12 blocks:

I have to say ~ Bonnie Hunter has totally changed my way of thinking about "scrappy"!  Linking up with her for Mystery Monday. :)  Thanks, Bonnie!!

2018 Finish-A-Long: 4th Quarter Results

Well ~ it's been a busy quarter ~ just not so much quilting-wise.  I had four projects on my list and, while I've made some progress on three of them, no finishes this time.  I guess (in my defense) that's because of a major change in our quiet little life -  putting our condo up for sale.  We're making the move from Florida to Nevada, so we've been spending a lot of time purging, pitching, cleaning and all that stuff that goes with a big move.  Exciting for sure!

Anyway, here are my results for this quarter:

1 -
Star Light Star Bright.  I do have the top finished, so now I need to finish the back and get it basted so it's ready to quilt!

Next up - the two Block of the Month patterns I've been working on since January.

2 - Patchwork Barn Block of the Month by Edyta Sitar.  I'm running a month behind on this, only because I'm not used to doing applique.  I have the 72 6" blocks finished and I've finished the center block with the applique.  After that it's the side panels (more applique) and the sashing (still trying to decide how I want to do that).

4 - Seasonal Silhouettes - December.  Still working with the Seasonal Silhouettes pattern book by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts.  I love this month's pattern ~ haven't started it yet, but I have all the fabrics and I'm hoping to get it up by Christmas.   NO PROGRESS.

Finishes:  Zero, zip, nada  (I'm sure I'll do better in 2019!)  Happy New Year, everybody!!
